8am car service out of Lawrence AirBnB west over to “the Little Apple,” Manhattan Kansas. We were all pretty tired for this ride and took naps until being awoken by this violent hail storm we hit along the way.

The layout of the KState stadium and tailgate is really cool: beautiful architecture on the outside façade and clustered rows of parking and tailgating. More of a classic feel and vibe. We only had 90 minutes to tailgate, but met mother/son duo, Shelly and Slade. Really nice alums who gave us the rundown on what to expect from this year’s Wildcat football team and that their husband/dad wasn’t there that day because it’s corn harvesting season and he’s busy cutting corn…

Inside the stadium we felt like we warped 20 years into the future compared to the KU stadium from last night. No lines for bathrooms or concession stands and wide concourse with TVs.

Cool helicopter flyover for the game, slow Q1 with yet another missed FG. Sebastian and I took the KState Team Total O33.5. 10-0 mid Q2 and then a jolt of life for our bet on a 65-yard punt return by Brandon White with 2:15 left in the half setting up a short field and TD drive. 17-0 KState. KState then got the ball back with ~30 seconds left on their own 30 and tried to push for more point, but on the final play of the half, they threw the devastating Pick-6. Brutal way for the home team to go into half now

only up 17-7 instead of 24, 20, or 17-0. I took a free $28 even being a little late to the party on Kalshi after the sudden change pick 6. Here is a partial video of a different INT that Avery Johnson threw:

I don’t like Avery Johnson QB1 for KState much, but I did really like Joe Jackson #4 RB1 and #8 Brandon White WR1.

KState hit 34 points early Q4, making it 34-7, and we headed out a few minutes early to beat Lyft traffic to the airport and make up for the lightening delay that added about 40 minutes to halftime. I stressed about whether I won the 50/50 raffle or not because we couldn’t see the jumbotron from the street but could hear the announcement...but I didn’t win. Going to try to win a future KState home game 50/50 raffle this year as it’s beatable.
