Waco, TX
McLane Stadium September 15, 2018 Duke 40 – Baylor 27 (ESPN Recap)

My first double-header was a solo trip to Texas.
I flew into DFW on Saturday morning, rented a car, drove down to Waco, had lunch, then tailgated and watched Daniel Jones’ backup and Duke get the W at Baylor while sitting on a Duke +3 ticket.
The pregame tailgate was beautiful, but too tame for my liking. Baylor is a bit of a religious school and I could tell that the energy wasn’t there the same way it probably would have been when they had a stable of really high quality QBs in RG3, Bryce Petty, Jarrett Stidham, and Seth Russell (and Corey Coleman catching the passes). The lake was beautiful and it was a very kid/family-friendly environment that I explored with a 12 pack of Bud Lite for.

Cool opening to the game where all the Baylor freshman students wearing yellow shirts run through the tunnel onto the field as if they were going to play the game. They were actually really excited to do that.
There was one really obnoxious Baylor fan in my section who would selectively yell really loud and inappropriate things between plays about Art Briles (#MeToo). Some were insults about the misconduct, some were insults at the current coaching staff, and some made no sense at all…but it was definitely with the intent of “We would be a better team if we had Art Briles.”
I bought an $11 ticket on SeatGeek and sat in an open seat at the 10 yard-line about 10 rows up. I like collegiate sporting venues where the school forgoes substantial donor money to provide the student section with elite seating. Baylor football does it that way much like Duke Basketball does at Cameron Indoor.
