Texas 28 – West Virginia 14 (ESPN Recap)
Almost Heaven…
We knew with the gang back together that we were going to have a fun weekend, but we really maximized our time in Morgantown and had a blast! Evan did his thing and found us a great AirBnB near campus, Stephen rocked the Oklahoma State sweater and we frequented Joe Mama’s bar all weekend for the (essentially) free drinks. No, really!
On Friday night, they were serving $0.50 drinks there.
The 9 drinks pictured below cost $4.50 and we triple-fisted.

Mario’s Fishbowl for the best rendering of the John Denver song that is hands down the best song affiliated with any school in the country (video below). Unfortunately, the Mountaineers didn’t get it done on the field and we didn’t get to lock arms post-game with all of our new friends to chant the song which is the tradition after every sporting event that WVU wins.
Will Grier and David Sills was the QB/WR duo I was excited to see, and I got to see them ball out for all of one series as Grier capped off the opening series with a dive to the pylon for a TD…or what looked like a TD but turned into a fumble, a touchback for Texas, and a dislocated middle finger on his throwing hand…done for the rest of the game. But don’t tell the large fan who snuck two cans of beer into the stadium, opened them both, and poured them at his mouth and face and chest to celebrate the fumble he thought was a TD. Then it rained hard for the rest of the first half and we got very wet despite our ponchos.
Got crushed on my Over bet for the game after the Grier injury, and then tried to 2H take Texas and lost that too to the satisfaction of my crew who doesn't like it when I bet against the home team on our trips. We made a new promise that I wouldn’t bet on the road team on our annual trips anymore.
Really, Morgantown is awesome. Thanks to Julia and Demitrus for pointing us in the right directions.
