#19 NC State

Raleigh, NC

Carter-Finley Stadium October 8, 2016 NC State 10 – Notre Dame 3 (ESPN Recap)

Memorable game for a lot of reasons:

1) I did not piece together that I was geographically close to this game until landing on Friday night the day before for Jon’s wedding (which shares the same date as the game). Snapchat geo filters connecting people and leading to an epic experience.

2) I was not sure if I was going to make it to North Carolina to begin with as there was a hurricane running up the east coast and impacting flights departing Florida

3) The hurricane ended up hitting…North Carolina. The game was played “in hurricane conditions” and the wedding occurred without power.

Thanks to Kevin, Cindy, Zach, and Aaron for the late invite for pre-wedding festivities. What was the most anticipated home game at Carter Finley in many years, turned into the wettest game I have ever been to (possibly ever).

Tailgating was limited to under the tent because of the torrential rain. I came in a t-shirt and bathing suit ready to embrace the water. I left with borrowing a red long/sleeve rain slicker and a water-logged dead iPhone.

Unfortunately, the pictures I took at tailgate, pregame in the stadium with Aaron/Zach, and on the field when I walked down because security was not present are all destroyed. Same thing happened to Kevin’s phone. There is only this one that survived on Aaron’s phone. I was able to bet the 2H under on the way out of the stadium. There were currents of water like a running fire hydrant at each staircase to the field in the stadium. Never seen anything like this game:

I do not know how they played it. So many fumbles and special teams’ disasters. In fact, all 13 points were scored by ST.

Ryan Finley finished with a QBR of 2.2 on 5/12 passing for 27 yards. DeShone Kizer finished with a QBR of 3.3 on 9/26 passing for 54 yards and 1 interception.

There were 10 fumbles in the game. TEN FUMBLES! It’s like someone turned on fumblitis on Madden 2004.

I will never forget this game. It is the most memorable game I have been to since the 3OT game in South Bend that also featured the Irish.
