October 6, 2018 Miami 28 – Florida St 27 (ESPN Recap)

2014 The 9-0 defending National Champs from Tallahassee roll into Dade County for a night game showdown with the home team Canes. It looked like Miami was brewing an upset, jumping out to a 16-0 lead and 13-pt lead at halftime. However, Jameis did his thing and orchestrated a beautiful comeback in the second half, leaning mostly on Dalvin Cook to keep the Canes honest. Dorsett and Duke Johnson looked good as advertised and I really wish the U got Stacy Coley more touches because he is mini-Santana Moss. [EDIT from the future: Jalen Ramsey sealed the game off with an INT against Kaaya on the final drive]. Roberto Aguayo is automatic at FGs.

The game was a bit blurry for me as the tailgate scene outside of Sun Life Stadium was the best tailgate I have ever been to. Rows and rows of loud music, DJ booths, smoke machines, summer clothes from both campuses, drinking games, and fun. Celebrities all over from the alumni-base of the school, and current and former pro athletes that live in Miami. I rolled with Jarrett, who was attending his first bigtime college football game and is now starting to understand why I like CFB so much.

The in-game atmosphere wasn’t as good since pro stadiums take away the mystique of what college stadiums should all be about, but the quality of play on the field was high. Melvin Gordon had 25 carries for 408 yards and 4 TDs for Wisconsin against Nebraska today!!

2018 Only makes sense to go to Canes games either when they are really good, are playing FSU, or happen to get some other elite opponent coming to town like when Notre Dame came in 2017 (I was out of town). The stadium took a name change and is now Hard Rock Stadium. The tailgating was great again, and the Twins welcomed Simo home to a game of American Football. My date was really hot! Pretty much the inverse of the game I caught 3 years ago with FSU getting out to a 13-pt halftime lead, extending to 20 in the 2nd half, and then blowing it quickly. I bet Canes ML and ATS, getting there on the ML and breaking even for the game. FSU looked really good for two quarters. Big fan of the turnover chain. Went and bought the gear to rock for this game.

N’Kosi Perry was oddly really effective. Deondre Francois stinks. And I finally got to see the U win a home game and beat their in-state rival.

Always nice when the ride home is a 30-minute drive and doesn’t involve multiple airplanes or long Lyft rides.
