#14 Arkansas

Razorback Stadium October 11, 2014 Alabama 14 – Arkansas 13 (ESPN Recap)

Business school trip to Walmart country and Evan didn’t make the trip. Stephen and I shared an AirBnB and had a great time saying “Woo Pig Sooie” and “Fuck Bama” to about 400 strangers throughout the weekend.

Evan wasn’t there, but we went out to the bars on Friday night for what was our drunkest evening since undergrad days. Gameday was unfortunately misting/raining throughout, which put a damper on the energy for the tailgate and the overall attendance for the 7th ranked Alabama team coming to town. As a 4-pack season ticket holder to Arkansas this year, it also hurt the resale value of the tickets I planned to sell. I ended up giving them away even though they represented the profit margin on the season as I had recouped my cost basis leading up to that game.

Stephen drove over from Oklahoma with the Ok State Tailgate Response Unit ambulance. TV, speaker system, built in kegerator with tap on the driver’s side of the car. It was a big hit in the lot we bribed our way into and we made a bunch of new friends. Recent dad Daryk joined in on the fun which was cool. Evan wasn’t there because he didn’t come on the trip.

Inside the stadium, the power of the lights offset the mist and it was actually pleasant for the night game. On the opening series for Arkansas, they drove down the field and fumbled into the endzone for a touchback. That and a missed extra point later in the game ended up being the two causes for the Razorbacks not being able to pull off the home upset. I weather bet the under for the W.

Arkansas is a run-heavy team and didn’t have much success with Jonathan Williams or Alex Collins running the ball. The defensive front of (probably) all future NFL players for Bama was strong.

Not a big Blake Sims fan. Yeldon and Henry are monsters but they were contained as well. Bret Bielema really had a great game plan for Saban and co.

It was the deep south, but I would entertain a repeat trip back to that city and stadium in the future. It was a good time that Evan missed.
